Fishing and Tide Information

Some of the best angling fish in the Rainbow Bay area include Bream, Snapper and Tailor. All of these fish can be caught along the beaches with Bream and Tailor also able to be caught in some of the estuaries.

The Queensland Department of Primary Industry is responsible for regulating recreational fishing in Queensland. It is important that you consult the local tackle shop if you are unsure of the recreational fishing regulations that apply in Queensland as there are serious penalties for infringements.

Regulations apply to:
  • The seasons that you can catch certain fish
  • The size and number of fish you may catch
  • And the type of equipment you are permitted to use
